I have to say the wii is a huge hit in our house. We are anxiously awaiting the extra dance pad so we can have competitions. We laughed so hard when we were making our mii's and it is even more hilarious to watch them dance while we are stomping away. Even Bob is getting into the groove.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdgvq-rnCS4yT1Nv0ZNK9kDJwq2GznqgvrGrkSSlPDTjgex2Fg3lmhc81ONmVFgFCCcVHBMkAVxM7sSr9GaqSjnk6LTidebKRhG2YRYjiol5k7dS8Q3D1P7jiL-BLi4-WQQ3ZEpGqwt9Ba/s1600-h/Childrens+museum+003.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 200px; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5420840119052574226" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdgvq-rnCS4yT1Nv0ZNK9kDJwq2GznqgvrGrkSSlPDTjgex2Fg3lmhc81ONmVFgFCCcVHBMkAVxM7sSr9GaqSjnk6LTidebKRhG2YRYjiol5k7dS8Q3D1P7jiL-BLi4-WQQ3ZEpGqwt9Ba/s200/Childrens+museum+003.JPG" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCe4G_zAMdPu0uxkXc9pn2QCmObK3xvMoTZEIWvVFwDaTSi3apAkgdjjGMof2IykFgqFlsHRsFpMlW4MoAiz1EggnQufJ6O_l7udm6JR0qxJV0e-tZXegxVBBPWQoE3vJ9R5TnYLIYtp3q/s1600-h/Childrens+museum+011.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 200px; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5420840132096860818" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCe4G_zAMdPu0uxkXc9pn2QCmObK3xvMoTZEIWvVFwDaTSi3apAkgdjjGMof2IykFgqFlsHRsFpMlW4MoAiz1EggnQufJ6O_l7udm6JR0qxJV0e-tZXegxVBBPWQoE3vJ9R5TnYLIYtp3q/s200/Childrens+museum+011.JPG" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhT0msJ_ELerr3ltR69Ye7nBPB5LG2AUum_UOgxyEVqS5vL7g1XOd-M0mx7wzUYU2hSd4wW9YA_dYY7XfJo2UASJAEqnv7yQ67ZbxVO1W-Bf5t1Hl4D09wWMnoASzNJiTDAsUL60NiL_uI/s1600-h/Childrens+museum+013.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 200px; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5420840141721821218" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhT0msJ_ELerr3ltR69Ye7nBPB5LG2AUum_UOgxyEVqS5vL7g1XOd-M0mx7wzUYU2hSd4wW9YA_dYY7XfJo2UASJAEqnv7yQ67ZbxVO1W-Bf5t1Hl4D09wWMnoASzNJiTDAsUL60NiL_uI/s200/Childrens+museum+013.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_mAwND0WbBVXMXjS2F4uP-U0rIvny89o4tb-fVd-vj7dy3JRqMVWAVQyOwO987vPcsAfqe8lkHtqDBLRcpiCqP4DYrTrjp9sVYchSb-6L0TtmWseKg4CMAFVQqj89XtqPo8PlS6_XHDhp/s1600-h/Childrens+museum+009.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 200px; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5420840124501193010" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_mAwND0WbBVXMXjS2F4uP-U0rIvny89o4tb-fVd-vj7dy3JRqMVWAVQyOwO987vPcsAfqe8lkHtqDBLRcpiCqP4DYrTrjp9sVYchSb-6L0TtmWseKg4CMAFVQqj89XtqPo8PlS6_XHDhp/s200/Childrens+museum+009.JPG" /></a><br />We also went bowling and to the Children's Museum as well. I was shooting for 38:00 but that is the breaks. The 5K course is very flat so thus my time was quicker. We shall see if I can get more time off by the next race. Stephen, Ethan and Christopher also raced as well. Stephen came in 3rd out of three racers, Ethan came in next to last of maybe seven racers, and Christopher came in second of about six racers. It was a lot of fun. Poor Bob didn't get to race because he was watching children while I raced. Maybe next time he can. After the race we went and hiked about three miles at Spring Mill State Park. We had a great time Saturday as a family</span>.</span></span>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-58788707941296986932009-06-08T05:34:00.000-07:002009-06-08T05:46:11.106-07:00Saturday Race/Pace Reunion<span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">This past Saturday we participated in the Race for Literacy 5K run/walk. It was Stephen's first 5k run and he did very well coming in 2nd for his age division with a time of 31 minutes. The boy who beat him was 13. Bob ran with him therefore he was unable to place for his age division. I did the walk and came in first for my division with a time of 39:20 beating my previous time of 40:20. I was really excited about shaving off that kind of time. The next run will be a memorial run/walk in Bloomington on July 4th, that I am doing with my neighbor. That isn't a competitive walk so it will be practice for the next race after that. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">Sunday was the Pace reunion and we had a great time socializing with extended family. There weren't as many there this time but Bob's brother Jeff was out with his son Nathan. Nathan is growing up so fast and turning into a young man right before our eyes. So we had a great time just talking with everyone and playing Baggo. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">Another note: We have another new kitty that has come into our family. His name is Potter and he is the cutest little tiger kitten. He is very playful and sweet. He and Midnight are actually getting along really well. As Potter gets older he will spend much of his time outside like Midnight does. </span>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-91214866528570975702009-05-26T07:54:00.000-07:002009-05-26T08:04:05.248-07:00Last Day of School<span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">Today was the boys last day of school and we attended the honor day ceremony. The boys did very well and now they are home for the summer. It should be fun to have a rest until we jump back in come August. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">These are the awards the boys received:</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">Stephen: Honor Roll blue ribbon, Outstanding Reading Achievement, Accelerated Reader most points in class, Most Words Read (854,014 words), Language Arts Award, Art Award, Spelling Award, Mathmatics Award.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">Ethan: 1st grade Honor Role Blue ribbon, Mastery of Skills Award, Language Arts Award.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">The boys did well this year and we are so pleased on how hard they worked. Christopher also finished his preschool and did well on the skills there. We are hopefully looking to enroll him in Kindergarten this year as opposed to waiting till next year. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">We are certainly blessed to have such great boys in our home. During the month of April we had planned to enter the YMCA 5K and Fun Run but were concerned about rain, since that has been the order of the day as of late. Great for grass and garden but bad for outside fun. Thankfully a sunny day was forcast and we all entered the race that morning. Bob and I did the 5K walk and Stephen and Ethan did the fun run. It was a chilly morning but great for racing. There were many people there and it proved to be a fast race this year. For our first 5K Bob and I did well. If you want to see race results check out the YMCA Bloomington website. Stephen and Ethan did very well. Their race was .9 miles and was run cross country fashion. Stephen came in first over all and Ethan second. We were very </span><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">excited for them.</span><br /></div><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9OivkrC1NRmPV0jZfUnXnicaoMIPxdWSFkkb2SUx4Szf3kHObHKz7vnkvFjlvhBYtQRb9gqCsHE03w0ZZLYRaHF5Yr0UJosFiABwdbfiCOSsdp27H3j0xN0l_qiAR17-hVohH-gTGrfow/s1600-h/ethan+second+place+fun+run+resize.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330883165166270018" style="WIDTH: 192px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9OivkrC1NRmPV0jZfUnXnicaoMIPxdWSFkkb2SUx4Szf3kHObHKz7vnkvFjlvhBYtQRb9gqCsHE03w0ZZLYRaHF5Yr0UJosFiABwdbfiCOSsdp27H3j0xN0l_qiAR17-hVohH-gTGrfow/s200/ethan+second+place+fun+run+resize.JPG" border="0" /></a></p><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgFaOKDgS_xGK2en-kq1pIWhPIXpaX2r47eho_S4eymEv0YikSfLEnm4HgzsSxkZUSv1tIDM4rShseMj8Qjez52vwMRLpIjbeEnl1ARBIa3OdqGQ9n2zXLbNVTsPD2MhMpufySbAKsMz6c/s1600-h/bob+rock+wall+resize.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330891035669351698" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 142px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgFaOKDgS_xGK2en-kq1pIWhPIXpaX2r47eho_S4eymEv0YikSfLEnm4HgzsSxkZUSv1tIDM4rShseMj8Qjez52vwMRLpIjbeEnl1ARBIa3OdqGQ9n2zXLbNVTsPD2MhMpufySbAKsMz6c/s200/bob+rock+wall+resize.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM8QvtlxzHvibuL_ienKuJtHLnoVuZYx5fVESxA-KtlpW4tbFSG0VWpE14nNsTI7-VVMirki3RmbAUtg6a-lYA_SqEjkCado8nzCvDJSLqSebweFb9Ty-o_ROMOE-ms8RN9Az0_w_JDlGO/s1600-h/chris+jumping+fun+run+resize.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330884542860375890" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 195px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM8QvtlxzHvibuL_ienKuJtHLnoVuZYx5fVESxA-KtlpW4tbFSG0VWpE14nNsTI7-VVMirki3RmbAUtg6a-lYA_SqEjkCado8nzCvDJSLqSebweFb9Ty-o_ROMOE-ms8RN9Az0_w_JDlGO/s200/chris+jumping+fun+run+resize.JPG" border="0" /></a>After the race, they had fun things for the children to do for the health festival. They had a jumping area and a rock wall to climb. They also had a cartoonist there that was teaching the children to draw their own cartoon. Ethan, Stephen and Chris were all over that and we had to pull them away in the end. Bob and I even tried our hand at the rock wall. Bob, Stephen, and Ethan all reached the top to hit the buzzer. I got about half way up. Even Christopher tried to get in on the fun as well. </span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">All in all it was a great day and are looking forward to the next run this month. Especially, since she is complaining about the fact I haven't updated my blog in a while. I must confess, I have been very busy as of late with my Computers in Education class. I am having a great time though. I've learned Excel, PowerPoint, Comic Life, Stellarium, and other websites where I can get freeware that is utilized in education. It is a busy class but the projects are a lot of fun. This will be the last class I need to take until 2014. By that time, hopefully I will be an employed teacher and working on my masters. Heintje can't be the only Master in the family.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;"><strong>My five addictions</strong></span><br /><ul><li><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">1. My nuclear and extended family. Need I say more, family is what it is all about.</span></li><li><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">2. Orton-Gillingham: Teaching children to read that have been written off by everyone else brings me great satisfaction. I talk about this incessantly to the point I think everyone is sick to death from hearing about it.</span></li><li><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">3. Ancient history: No matter how hard I try, ancient Egypt, Israel, and Native Americans keep sucking me back in. Politics is probably a close second.</span></li><li><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">4. Chocolate, Chocolate and more Chocolate: It is the bane of my existence and I wish I could just leave it alone but it is OH SO GOOOOOOD!</span></li><li><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">5. TV: Thankfully now we have a stationary bike in front of the TV, so I can do something constructive when I watch. I limit my time in front of the tube but I could totally see myself vegging for a whole day if I let myself. Those documentaries and history programs just kill me and I can't get enough, as well as most any sci-fi, fantasy, or adventure movie. Reading fiction in a wide variety of genres is a close second. If I'm not doing one, I'm likely doing the other. (I am so pathetic)</span></li></ul><p><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">I hope this satisfies the requirement. Should I tag others???? Probably not, since the people I would tag, have already been tagged by Marthea. I think only family reads my blog anyway. I will try to get another family oriented post up soon. The problem is, we have forgotten to take the camera on the latest adventures we have had. The boys are playing basketball and we went skiing at Paoli Peaks last Saturday, which was a blast!!! The boys did very well and skied for almost three hours. I figured they would get sick of it within twenty minutes and want to go in. Nothin' doing, they stayed out and finally made it to the actual bunny hill. Stephen wanted to go out on the slopes but we had to be back to feed the missionaries and didn't have time. So one day we will go again and Stephen can try it. </span></p>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-65321828515498113092008-12-18T05:08:00.000-08:002008-12-18T06:08:06.619-08:00December Highlights<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXBnb0dxPDNHY6F8rzRYE1KIwD6yrQHRhnmG5V_jesCWQ7CnBy1HKsChv1NOjvVIXyxnUtUX6w0DUMjUFbITtW3PuoqVWb8a5FXroANB7nxn6EXlc7Odv2Wha9ulPy0hR8ngGN_gts9wpQ/s1600-h/science+museum+resize.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281122397329572978" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXBnb0dxPDNHY6F8rzRYE1KIwD6yrQHRhnmG5V_jesCWQ7CnBy1HKsChv1NOjvVIXyxnUtUX6w0DUMjUFbITtW3PuoqVWb8a5FXroANB7nxn6EXlc7Odv2Wha9ulPy0hR8ngGN_gts9wpQ/s200/science+museum+resize.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">Here is a picture from our trip to St. Louis that I didn't get in. It turned out they were a group from Utah seeing church sites and had just been to Nauvoo. So we talked with them a little about history and the Book of Mormon. It is so funny to meet up with other members of the church in unexpected places. Because his birthday falls just past the 2009 August beginning for regular school, I figured I would put him in pre-K school next year. However, since he has shown his ability to be ready for Kindergarten next year, we decided to put him in pre-school this year. He had his first day yesterday and did very well. Mrs. Ryan expressed she would like to nickname him smiley, because he smiled the whole time he was there. He is so excited about being a big school boy now. In talking with the Kindergarten teacher, she felt confident Christopher would be ready for her class, even though he won't be quite five yet when he starts school. We shall see how everything goes. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">Ethan had his first test of the year and received a 100%. We are so pleased with how well he is doing. Unfortunately, first grade is quite the adjustment for him. Getting up in the morning is proving to be very difficult for him. He is very grouchy when he gets up. Hopefully as the year progresses things will get easier in the "waking up department" for him.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">Stephen has been doing well too. He has gotten 100% + bonus on his spelling tests. He is also working very hard to be a good example and live up to the standards in his Faith in God book. He is growing up and is taking more and more responsibility in the house and at school. He is getting close to completing his Wolf rank and will be moving up to work on his Bear rank in October.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">Thus our family is very busy keeping up with school, activities, and family fun. We are very blessed to have everyone healthy and happy and expect this new school year to be full of growth and fun.</span>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-90573247634496574632008-08-19T15:25:00.000-07:002008-08-19T15:37:11.922-07:00A New Pet For The Pace Family<span style="font-family:arial;color:#3333ff;">We are now the proud owners of a new little kitten we have named Midnight. He is a stray that has been hanging around the neighborhood. I felt sorry for it, so I fed him and he of course stayed. He will be an outside cat, for the most part, but right now he is spending the next seven days cooped up in a cat carrier, because we had him fixed today. After that back outside he goes. He is a really sweet cat and although I think most cats are the spawn of Satan, I really like Midnight. He is a very affectionate cat and really likes people. He of course, is black and he is between four and six month old. I figure he will hunt the mice and moles in the yard and for the most part he just hangs around the property. At night, we may put him in his cat carrier to keep him safe from the coyotes. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">I would post a picture, but recently our digital camera bit the dust, so until we can afford a new one we won't have pictures. Sorry Marthea, pictures of the new deck will have to wait. Maybe if Jeff can get out here while he is visiting, he can get a picture for you so you can see it.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">The children are really glad to have Midnight and spend many hours petting and chasing him down. He is so good natured about it all. We are very happy to have such a super cat.</span>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-82758540884550021532008-08-15T15:18:00.000-07:002008-08-15T15:24:42.500-07:00It Has Finally Happened!<span style="font-family:arial;color:#3333ff;">After five long years of waiting and saving, the deck project has finally been accomplished! We get to use it this weekend for Christopher's birthday party. So pictures will come later. Dustin, Mike, and their helper Phil did an awesome job. We are very pleased with the result. Now we are able to go out our sliding glass door and get even more of a cross breeze in the living and kitchen space. There are other jobs that need doing but now we can at least scratch this one off the list. </span>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-8908879572877579932008-07-25T14:29:00.000-07:002008-07-25T14:42:01.147-07:0040 is finally here!!!<span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">I am so excited that 40 has finally arrived. I decided this year to spend it in the temple and my two wonderful sisters-in-law graciously came with me to Louisville. They took me to lunch at <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Qdoba</span>, which was a lot of fun. The ride down and back was full of talking and laughing. We missed the turn off coming back, but with Stephanie and Bethany to get me back on track, there was no worries.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">Bob gave me a super kiss and hug when I got home, plus Ethan and Chris greeted me with special homemade presents. Thanks to my wonderful in-laws for watching children and my sweet husband for picking them up and making the day possible. The first 40 years have been full of laughter, tears, excitement, hard times, surprises and tons of growth. I look forward to the future to be more of the same wonderful experiences. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">I have heard it said more than once that every day above ground is a fantastic day. I agree with that philosophy whole <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">heartedly</span>. I thank all those who have made my life special. So a great big happy birthday kiss and hug to everyone!!!</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;">I love you all.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;color:#3333ff;"></span>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-78026560959526044812008-07-01T08:52:00.001-07:002008-07-01T09:50:18.944-07:00Wisconsin 2008<div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5218075604619726834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEGm7C2RBoInZLiZWM0FPcGiDHWg0cjSnhGOoEe6755Tcds2Nmal8wEy6tYVEffl_akzROjZnmdfilf9qnV_fILhZFQfunaK_czF2yZ_CL7QykaLlDZxmSxtFlDIsTcSi5uj0rmpmGXEgg/s200/chris+cottage+swim+resize.JPG" border="0" /><br /><div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">Our annual Wisconsin trip for this year was definately enjoyed by all. Why bring books when there is a wealth of them at the library? In front of the library is this cute little dog made from scrap metal and the children really enjoyed playing with it. The bench next to it is a memorial bench of the Tlusty family. The highlight of the trip was seeing a bald eagle flying overhead and Stephen catching a large mouth bass.</span></div><br /><div><br /></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">The difficult thing about the trip, was the wind. I often had difficulty steering the canoe, because the wind would hit the front of the canoe and cause us to spin round and go backward. This resulted in us taking too long, thus we ended up having to get out early so we would be able to meet the pick up guy. I look forward to doing it again, maybe when the boys are older. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhndeHV8rtUxvFRnfsF50fL87Fd_yfhRGOphHF-6Rkw7Qrwszn3mWItb4JumzN7PND30g9ZFAvIv6piAnK3BEKancF5HCqXCJfeUWuI-8NdpV0iptSt9jfKbVyaGgNG0sSCt6udx_MnDWoG/s1600-h/chris+ethan+flambeau+resize.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5218080681469053522" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhndeHV8rtUxvFRnfsF50fL87Fd_yfhRGOphHF-6Rkw7Qrwszn3mWItb4JumzN7PND30g9ZFAvIv6piAnK3BEKancF5HCqXCJfeUWuI-8NdpV0iptSt9jfKbVyaGgNG0sSCt6udx_MnDWoG/s200/chris+ethan+flambeau+resize.JPG" border="0" /></a>That way we can do a several day excursion with camping along the river.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVrsLKWRvbXO5qwbYRhR3wiL_AXnzZCg8klJlmaoNy0KaBK1Wdg2MY2s9iFxtX8Woja6b6nD4LfYFyUFE6jIytxQdK1fBd7PpCWRHqp4iTXb5w9NtD45qw4Sdaf8B08X8f2gjhB1TYHl_w/s1600-h/stephen+kaya+flambeau+resize.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5218080686926162258" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVrsLKWRvbXO5qwbYRhR3wiL_AXnzZCg8klJlmaoNy0KaBK1Wdg2MY2s9iFxtX8Woja6b6nD4LfYFyUFE6jIytxQdK1fBd7PpCWRHqp4iTXb5w9NtD45qw4Sdaf8B08X8f2gjhB1TYHl_w/s200/stephen+kaya+flambeau+resize.JPG" border="0" /></a> Another big event, was seeing a bald eagle sitting on the shoulder of the highway just a few feet from the car. The Children's Museum had loads of hands on activities and tons to see. This museum is the fourth best in the country and had an outstanding play park on the backside of the building. We all had a blast playing back there in the mazes. All and all, we had a wonderful time and it seemed the vacation ended too soon. I was so happy. That class was a lot of work and very different from any class I have taken thus far. Since I have never taken a linguistics course, I was a little intimidated. I learned a lot and am looking forward (kind of) to taking another course in the Spring of 2009. Then I will be set for my license renewal. I hope one day I will actually be able to use it in a real classroom setting. Of course, everything I learn is helpful in teaching my own little guys and as I have said over and over there is no wasted learning.</span>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-11344466341258577792008-06-03T06:16:00.001-07:002008-06-03T06:28:27.768-07:00Kindergarten Graduation<div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;color:#3333ff;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207645085710610818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifJXWpw3XVeC4Zaj7kEWi1S_T4BL70mdzFzSy_wOmtViTuIcyzqpp_Y9nssr29Vr_gE5fU7BaQ-wFlxvqhx6OGgrdUxvHfA5YKjrOAwB-TG1jEbUz0D9YCO0AfcND9mwDZ8sqPnaMWq3xh/s200/ethan+k+grad+resize.JPG" border="0" />Ethan received so many awards in Kindergarten this year. Ethan is playing with the Kentucky Wildcats and Stephen with the Stanford Cardinals. Both are having a great time and improving each game. This is Stephen's first year playing ball and due to his age, had to start with machine pitch. At first, it was hard for him to hit but now, he is able to hit with much more confidence. Ethan opted for T-ball again this year. He is also doing very well. He rarely lets a ball get past him and he is hitting very well.</span><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207635516523475234" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvEG-f5WLv1spcZf2oGvBUcllRbq_QfzadL8KezVExAKU6AblHUrUG2tLofAdebH-83LXQiUT_4d-Boc2qTWUfbpIaGJqluEnUdNltMEbctMcp1Rp27ghEml7-kzxfI0R9weQw2C6sj8sS/s200/Ethan+hitting+resize.JPG" border="0" /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;color:#3333ff;">Ethan hitting!!!</span><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207636156473602354" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWJ7cY9ANmLd1gtvdEepvShZVYKX1MvgZrbDXJACWMQNo1A4wn2KeV_2MirJ7WmWTAhLgPNJIURBwrXghXGuKfrvnMFy8g4IS4kuqPgEUc2vTFpogyhOKMlpB3PPNignJAByWmOY83HruE/s200/ethan+running+1st+base+resize.JPG" border="0" /> <p align="center"><span style="color:#3333ff;"></span><span style="color:#3333ff;"></span><span style="font-family:arial;color:#3333ff;">Run Ethie!!!</span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvEG-f5WLv1spcZf2oGvBUcllRbq_QfzadL8KezVExAKU6AblHUrUG2tLofAdebH-83LXQiUT_4d-Boc2qTWUfbpIaGJqluEnUdNltMEbctMcp1Rp27ghEml7-kzxfI0R9weQw2C6sj8sS/s1600-h/Ethan+hitting+resize.JPG"></a></p><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207636667574710594" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" height="191" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD7q0MzYqMHX3UD7mwYyqPfjR6LcXi9OvELCzolZuUXDcp_HMg6-lupM6b8WRBTlIOw1o7SLyzEaO1AT1_qIlvcqKKBiY88aVYjXeTqxk_nySnJXXyT_80CUbuatrlsDhS3PLR-oj0nzzd/s200/ethan+waiting+to+run+resize.JPG" width="166" border="0" /><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="color:#3333ff;">He made it!</span><br /></span><br /></div>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-26233919588229666022008-04-15T06:56:00.000-07:002008-04-15T07:14:47.445-07:00Class Almost Over<span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3366ff;">It has been difficult for me to add postings due to my psych/social lingustics class and also taking on my very first primary aged student. These two things have caused me to be in Bloomington three times a week, thus taking up precious time I use for other things. I have enjoyed my class so much and learned a lot. The hard thing about it, is all the reading and activities. It will be good for one thing to drop off my list of things to do. Of course, the new student takes time in developing lesson plans. Stephen and Ethan have also started baseball and T-ball respectively, so that will add to the running around. Thankfully, summer vacation will begin next month and that will allow for more time at home, so I can post. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3366ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3366ff;">I have really been enjoying the time I have been spending with my new student. Having him has allowed me to be a presence in his elementary school. This is what I would like to see happen, in that elementary schools enlist the help of multisensory specialists to help dyslexic students obtain normalized reading proficiency, like the typical student enjoys. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3366ff;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3366ff;">Thus, these are my paltry excuses as to why I haven't been posting as of late. I plan to remedy this, so I can be more consistent with the blog. I wish everyone a wonderful day!</span>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-13761981644860185282008-04-15T06:37:00.000-07:002008-04-15T06:53:41.879-07:00Hiking in March and April<div><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZqXwxwtmooiLVTblGXGOzn5P1AjR65fWOgC1p5A0dXOaQnwR2gGBOWRlC0lH4MAAJwEHi8DMc67jlXwzZ9RRHv9m2D41BeGY7QbnKa869l_HyiyzCVNBnGjeWwC9Sa1NLmKUsP5PQHC_J/s1600-h/spring+mill+resize+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189467534660743138" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZqXwxwtmooiLVTblGXGOzn5P1AjR65fWOgC1p5A0dXOaQnwR2gGBOWRlC0lH4MAAJwEHi8DMc67jlXwzZ9RRHv9m2D41BeGY7QbnKa869l_HyiyzCVNBnGjeWwC9Sa1NLmKUsP5PQHC_J/s200/spring+mill+resize+2.JPG" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0RlOODljf9u9kB0Z1PJNshYwMkr0zkwW2UHgO5G3mrLx7hvgTC2pLKFoErETrtqX35UAgZy2ZrNgqZt92MkzK0aaCosTHJEqADmPT_2KODRyWWP6ae3FF3ndVDme-Vbb1QUAnR955VGmj/s1600-h/avoca+resize+1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189468526798188530" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0RlOODljf9u9kB0Z1PJNshYwMkr0zkwW2UHgO5G3mrLx7hvgTC2pLKFoErETrtqX35UAgZy2ZrNgqZt92MkzK0aaCosTHJEqADmPT_2KODRyWWP6ae3FF3ndVDme-Vbb1QUAnR955VGmj/s200/avoca+resize+1.JPG" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC1BVoOd04BDqAkCpLRJIJbyFRuFAKFMKDFcLUPFwMYN89NOXwmu6Bfk2oGXFNzDt5ZClvII8Jvi27m2vlLMNRvW96g99OmNBvMIsXAhoIafqsdqWDPs7ZSzzvuhf2RJ4faZIIzmkuOfsX/s1600-h/avoca+resize+2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189469725094064130" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC1BVoOd04BDqAkCpLRJIJbyFRuFAKFMKDFcLUPFwMYN89NOXwmu6Bfk2oGXFNzDt5ZClvII8Jvi27m2vlLMNRvW96g99OmNBvMIsXAhoIafqsdqWDPs7ZSzzvuhf2RJ4faZIIzmkuOfsX/s200/avoca+resize+2.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:arial;color:#3366ff;">We have been very fortunate this spring to be able to start hiking in March and April. Stephen was really excited when he received the Christlike star.</span></div><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#000099;"></span></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-81708138802664057872008-01-14T06:04:00.000-08:002008-01-14T06:28:54.593-08:00WonderLab<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijEXMsypxcFLily34tOM2jTsA7QyQgzQoMeaFo_56hdvsb2NpqXWwZ3DfV7rB8DWtf3TO4Be8N7vWkhVfFB4uSAOyYD29B72dIDfVkNPQoXaOu5xzOB0rq1X5cgUlvu6-wXCyENVEqEkOk/s1600-h/wonderlab+resize+mom+and+chris.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5155339022567500162" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijEXMsypxcFLily34tOM2jTsA7QyQgzQoMeaFo_56hdvsb2NpqXWwZ3DfV7rB8DWtf3TO4Be8N7vWkhVfFB4uSAOyYD29B72dIDfVkNPQoXaOu5xzOB0rq1X5cgUlvu6-wXCyENVEqEkOk/s320/wonderlab+resize+mom+and+chris.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:arial;color:#3333ff;">Saturday we went to WonderLab for the second time this year. The children always love to go and play. Stephen and Ethan love the "spider web". It is actually supposed to be a growing pea plant that begins at the bottom level of the facility, to the ceiling above the second floor. This year is the first time Ethan has chosen to climb all the way to the top. Christopher still is a little unsure about climbing up, so he tries and then after trying to climb past the first leaf, decides to come down. One day he will scurry up behind his brothers.</span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaidyJqbk5AFXN_wvhpDHc8bM6wzzLMJMdjoSq8tpKOxtucjV4UnTi3OY3fAsS_gzVbv7J-pHLgLzHCi4VCCOY3kl9P36PIlJM9Plbl2JBMyTD6I-0HyWcvLTj9kDnUbQvqV9pS-MkOm0i/s1600-h/wonderlab+resize+ethan+and+stephen.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5155334079060142434" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaidyJqbk5AFXN_wvhpDHc8bM6wzzLMJMdjoSq8tpKOxtucjV4UnTi3OY3fAsS_gzVbv7J-pHLgLzHCi4VCCOY3kl9P36PIlJM9Plbl2JBMyTD6I-0HyWcvLTj9kDnUbQvqV9pS-MkOm0i/s320/wonderlab+resize+ethan+and+stephen.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:arial;color:#3333ff;">While Stephen, Ethan, and Bob were climbing the "spider web". Christopher and I walked up the stairs to watch them reach the top. Then while they were up there hanging out, we looked at the bee colony and found the queen. After that, we looked at the different creatures inside the aquarium. I finally found the brittle star for the very first time. They also put in some new little red shrimp and baby star fish. Christopher and I spent a lot of time together just playing and talking. It was really fun. After we left, we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Pace. During the visit, since it was so nice out, I walked and everyone else scootered to Olcott Park to play. I rode Bob's scooter around the walking path a few times while everyone else played. When I was done, I pushed children on swings and played on the equipment. It was nice to spend time with the boys and enjoy the company of our little precious guys.</span></div></div></div>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-72469934531989829602007-12-31T06:16:00.000-08:002007-12-31T06:47:36.280-08:00Christmas get togethers<span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were very busy for our family. Christmas Eve was spent at the Bailey's with the whole extended family and then some. Every one was<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNG24V-cGpaDbfF73lIw7co6egGUZ6l6UMr83-IgmKzrk0X5odITA5JvGZkpT1HfNxAyVKw2rxfviNVHWxxaqwplCBpHTaYu4FTdvH7u6QlMb28eVmixo_IHJGFt_4ETL3EM5J4wluaNU3/s1600-h/stephen+and+santa+resize.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150142103549405506" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNG24V-cGpaDbfF73lIw7co6egGUZ6l6UMr83-IgmKzrk0X5odITA5JvGZkpT1HfNxAyVKw2rxfviNVHWxxaqwplCBpHTaYu4FTdvH7u6QlMb28eVmixo_IHJGFt_4ETL3EM5J4wluaNU3/s320/stephen+and+santa+resize.JPG" border="0" /></a> having a wonderful time chatting and eathing. The children were waiting anxiously for Santa to arrive. You should have heard the craziness when he came. Stephen and Ethan of course had a great time telling Santa what they wanted for Christmas. Christopher however, was a little coy about visiting with Santa so he stayed near Mom and Dad this year to open presents. </span><br /><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYqL2V2hxK43EFld09wdhfbQhntlJ-BKdlPFnK3fGxCqpPnldisXDVf_3pLDY-b4gA-sBxvjPwCn14An2SseZKkqxW7XkMgMjWV3UqYblh-MvBo2q0KNQg2Qmr6BYhQTdbAZo_WznibZ6U/s1600-h/Ethan+and+Santa+resize.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150141386289867058" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYqL2V2hxK43EFld09wdhfbQhntlJ-BKdlPFnK3fGxCqpPnldisXDVf_3pLDY-b4gA-sBxvjPwCn14An2SseZKkqxW7XkMgMjWV3UqYblh-MvBo2q0KNQg2Qmr6BYhQTdbAZo_WznibZ6U/s320/Ethan+and+Santa+resize.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div> <span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="color:#3333ff;">Christmas morning was spent at Grandma and Grandpa Tlustek's with the <strong>whole</strong> Tlustek clan! Grandma prepared a delicious breakfast. We of course opened gifts there as well. One gift was a pass to the WonderLab. That is one gift that keeps giving through the whole year. Thanx Mom and Dad. Hein and Stephanie had our name for the family gift and we received a warm blanket and hot chocolate and a gift card. The children of course got plenty as well.</span></span> <div> </div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSKlY_aU2jFaUvL2SZOHWA3Cr6gHh2R9IXgF-01ahtQvcYWDevoYdyKCxxTqQB2tTPAm5IKvgCK5NXEmeVmNHrnljvffuDqZM7oZEgrF9TGVRZLrjLIwm_zAz2DfhWhlMnH9E3pOAb-ANh/s1600-h/Chris+at+Christmas+eve+resize.JPG"><span style="font-family:arial;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150142923888159058" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSKlY_aU2jFaUvL2SZOHWA3Cr6gHh2R9IXgF-01ahtQvcYWDevoYdyKCxxTqQB2tTPAm5IKvgCK5NXEmeVmNHrnljvffuDqZM7oZEgrF9TGVRZLrjLIwm_zAz2DfhWhlMnH9E3pOAb-ANh/s320/Chris+at+Christmas+eve+resize.JPG" border="0" /></span></a><span style="font-family:arial;color:#3333ff;">Christmas Day we went to Grandma and Grandpa Paces for a late luncheon feast and more gift opening. We all received some real great and useful gifts. After eating we talked while the children played. We also had in our company three dogs this year. We have had a welcome addition to our home in Mali, a border collie we are watching for my soon to be brother-in-law Aaron. Of course we had with us Beretta our lab mix and Mom and Dad Pace's dog Maggie, a bassett beagle mix. Later on in the evening we played many rousing games of Pente. What a busy few days we had. </span></div><div><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;"></span> </div><div><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#3333ff;">We also got together for a family meal Dec. 30th to say good bye to the Jackson's who are going back to Utah. We really enjoyed spending time with them and it was so great to have everyone home for Christmas. It was so wonderful for all the children to reaquaint themselves with each other. What a blessing family is.</span></div></div></div>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3227452998562450405.post-21684815649378916122007-12-21T05:20:00.000-08:002007-12-21T05:33:31.681-08:00School Concert<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-GDHFFWr9ijvpK8zpbBK69BY_BJJb68O9FMJV8UlQLG5RX4jTAkRTg6BHgR0rl4SUHnq1kmtP76XtyqRwLvfmyh0v4w0m_u04aRgb4uHo3vDfM9DEjtsCUVDsftTWI1pDfy_ct_V6q30o/s1600-h/stephen+concert+resize.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5146416189355354402" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-GDHFFWr9ijvpK8zpbBK69BY_BJJb68O9FMJV8UlQLG5RX4jTAkRTg6BHgR0rl4SUHnq1kmtP76XtyqRwLvfmyh0v4w0m_u04aRgb4uHo3vDfM9DEjtsCUVDsftTWI1pDfy_ct_V6q30o/s320/stephen+concert+resize.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><span style="font-family:arial;color:#000099;">Stephen had his annual Christmas concert at school. He had a speaking part and helped accompany his contemporaries during the 2nd grade singing. Unfortunately, the pictures were not of good quality. I am still learning how to use the digital camera. It was really neat because the concert music was solely provided by the children on the various xylophones and glockenspiels. A special treat this year was that Grandma <strong>and</strong> <strong>Grandpa </strong>Tlustek attended. It was a packed audience as well. Christopher of course was very squirmy but I was glad I didn't have to remove him from the room. We really enjoyed the whole evening watching all the school children perform. I think the music teacher was very pleased with the results.</span></div>Pace Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03579838361876919170noreply@blogger.com1
